Journal Question - Based on what you know, how would you explain the fact that at first the English settlers at Jamestown had conflict with Powhatan’s Indians?
History - We read Ohio: It’s Neighbors Near & Far, pp. 251-254. We discussed editorials and then we watched video clips from CSPAN of Senators John McCain, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama weighing in on the situation in Iraq last Tuesday. We discussed the differing viewpoints of the three senators.
Homework - Talk to your parents about what they think we should do about the current situation in Iraq. Be ready to write about your opinion in the morning.

Well, we are in test prep mode now in Reading class! You can see that over on the right side of the screen is a link for my reading students to go to online OAT test practice. I have assigned my students two practice tests in reading and two practice tests in math. If you are not in my reading class, you can still go here and take a practice test - I just won’t be tracking your results.
History - We are continuing our study of different types of governments.
Extension - We have begun working with readers’ theater scripts from American history. We are also reading Traitor: The Case of Benedict Arnold.

Today in History class we began a discussion on monarchy, democracy, and dictatorships. We are working on classifying descriptions of government as one of these three forms of government. 8th period had pp. 226-227, 1-12 for homework. They are to answer the questions in complete sentences.
Reading - We read and discussed Time for Kids. Discussion centered around super delegates. Homework = comprehension quiz.
Extension - We are reading Twenty and Ten.
