Journal Topic - How can an elevation map be useful? When would people use an elevation map? For example, you might use an elevation map if you were going on a skiing, farming, going hunting, or looking for a warm place to vacation.  How would you use an elevation map in these circumstances?  How might an elevation map be important if you were a pilot flying a private airplane?  Other ideas our class had involved using an elevation map when cooking or hiking?  How else might an elevation map be useful?  Write a paragraph explaining how you might use an elevation map.

An elevation map could be very useful as a colorful wall hanging, or perhaps a cumbersome door stop. If you go skiing, maybe use one for a toboggan? No, that would be too uncomfortable to sit on.
